Slickrock Expeditions runs recreational trips of backpacking, canoeing, and camping in wilderness areas throughout the United States. In addition to the mountains and rivers of North Carolina, Slickrock Expeditions have gone into the wilds of South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Texas, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, and Montana, as well as to Quebec, Ontario, and the Northwest Territories of Canada.

Each Expedition is led by Burt Kornegay, a professional wilderness guide of many years' experience. And each Expedition fully outfits participants with all equipment, food, permits, and local transportation for the trip. Slickrock Expeditions are well known by those who take them for providing personal service with attention to detail.

Approximately half of the Expeditions run each year are "Custom-Tailored." These are privately arranged adventures for families, clubs, parent-child, and all-adult groups. The other half, called "Scheduled Trips," are open to all on a first-come basis.
